The Yangpyeong Africa Museum of Culture and Arts, located in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, has been selected for the '2024 Humanities on the Road' public contest project, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service and the Korean Library Association, for the second consecutive year following last year.
'Humanities on the Road' is a project designed to awaken the value of cultural citizens through the cultural heritage of humanity, supporting the access to culture and arts in various regions through humanities experienced in the field and daily life.
In the '2024 Humanities on the Road' project, the Yangpyeong Africa Museum of Culture and Arts, selected for its program titled 'African Grand Exploration,' aims to correct misconceptions about the unfamiliar Africa. By providing accurate information, the project seeks to dispel vague fears and prejudices, offering opportunities to engage with Africa and learn about its culture and arts. The course, consisting of 14 sessions, includes topics such as 'The Evolution of Coffee as a Popular Beverage,' 'Rattan (Basketry) and African Art,' and 'Understanding the Cultural Differences between Africa's Slowness and Korea's Fast-paced Life.' The class is limited to 20 participants and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, there is a webtoon drawing class for middle and high school students at the same time at the Yangpyeong Africa Museum of Culture and Arts, making it a great opportunity for parents and children to spend Saturdays together at the museum. Applications can be made through the Yangpyeong Africa Museum of Culture and Arts website or via a Naver Form link.
